Liverpool transfers: Barcleona midfielder Cristian Tello admits he was aware of interest from the Reds this summer
Cristian Tello has admitted he was aware of interest from Liverpool this summer.
The Barcelona midfielder was heavily linked with a switch to the Merseyside outfit, who have been tracking the winger for a number of years.
However, Tello’s touted move to Liverpool never materialised and the Spain international has already featured for the Catalan side this term.
The 22-year-old, who signed a new deal which runs until 2018, is adamant that he never sought a move away from the four-time European champions.
“I always wanted to stay at Barca,” Tello said. “The coach has confidence in me, I am content there and ready to play a lot of minutes.
“I feel better than in previous years. I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never planned to leave.”
Tello scored eight goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for La Liga champions Barcelona last season.
