Liverpool transfers: Rodgers hopes to complete Moses, Sakho & Ilori deals
Liverpool transfers: Brendan Rodgers says he hopes to complete deals for Victor Moses, Mamadou Sakho and Tiago llori on Monday
Brendan Rodgers says Liverpool hope to complete deals for Chelsea’s Victor Moses, Paris-Saint Germain’s Mamadou Sakho and Sporting Lisbon youngster Tiago llori on Monday.
Moses, 22, is expected to seal a move to the Merseyside outfit on a season-long loan deal from the Blues after falling down the pecking order at the Europa League winners this summer.
Rodgers is also expected to spend around £18m to bring France international Sakho to the Merseyside outfit, while Sporting Lisbon full-back Ilori is expected to cost in the region of £6m.
The trio were all at Anfield for Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Premier League champions Manchester United on Sunday, and Rodgers delivered a transfer update after the win.
“We hope they can be completed later but there will be no confirmation until tomorrow,” Rodgers said.
The Reds moved to the top of the Premier League table after Daniel Sturridge’s first-half winner secured maximum points against United – and Rodgers hailed his side’s performance.
“From the goalkeeper right the way through to Daniel Sturridge, the 11 players and the guys who came off the bench all played a big part today in the victory,” added Rodgers.
“Through the spine of the team, Sturridge was excellent, Steven Gerrard has shown at 33 he’s still got the composure, tenacity and quality to play in these games, and the two centre-halves were excellent. The goalkeeper was assured, safe and very motivated.
“Today was about the team and they got the rewards with a terrific performance.”
