Victor Moses has revealed Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge urged the Nigerian join the Reds.

The 22-year-old agreed a deal to move to Liverpool on a season-long loan from Chelsea on Monday, becoming the Merseyside outfit’s eighth signing of the summer.

Moses, who has 12 Nigeria caps, played alongside Sturridge at the west London club before the England striker sealed a £12m switch to Liverpool in the January transfer window.

“Yes, I spoke to Sturridge and he wanted me to come here,” Moses told Liverpool’s website.

“He said I’d love it here, but he didn’t need to say much. The next morning, I had a word with my agent and told him it could be the right move for me.

“As I’ve said, it’s a massive club with great history. The club is doing well, so I wanted to come here and enjoy my football. It’s been great – I’ve been here since yesterday and everyone has been looking after me.”

Sturridge has scored 13 goals in 17 Premier League appearances as the former Manchester City striker continues to flourish at the Reds following his move from Chelsea.

And Moses wants to enjoy playing football again, and in doing so, hopes to play his part in Liverpool’s bid to finish in the top-four this season.

“Daniel is a great player and at the moment is probably the best striker in the Premier League – he’s scoring goals, he’s got good vision and enjoys his football out on the pitch,” he added.

“That’s the most important as a player – to enjoy yourself. Daniel’s certainly doing that at the moment. I just want to come here, help my teammates however I can to try and get into the top four, and get as many games as I can at the same time.”
