Man City transfers: Casillas would be a top signing, says Navas
Man City transfers: Jesús Navas believes his Spanish compatriot Iker Casillas would be a great signing for the Citizens
Jesús Navas says Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas would be a “great addition” to the Manchester City squad.
The Spain captain is currently out-of-favour at Los Blancos as Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti continues to stick with back-up goalkeeper Diego Lopez.
In recent weeks, Joe Hart has been criticised following a number of surprising errors, particularly in a 3-1 loss to Cardiff City.
And Navas risked upsetting his new Citizens team-mate after admitting Casillas would be a great signing for the Eastlands outfit.
“You always want the good players in your team, they are important,” Navas told Movistar.
“We all know what a great keeper he is and the importance he has inside the team. At City there are great goalkeepers but Iker would be a great addition.”
Navas, 27, made his Premier League debut in a 4-0 victory over Newcastle United before
featuring in the surprise loss to Cardiff.
And Navas insists he is enjoying life in England after his £15m switch from Sevilla this summer.
“I’m very content, very happy since the first moment,” Navas added.
“It was an opportunity that I had and that I’ve wanted for some time. I really like the football that is played and the speed of how it is done. To enjoy football is something unique.
“City are a team that have to aspire to [win] everything. We are strong, we have confidence and we must continue calmly. Although we had a defeat [against Cardiff City], we started the league well. Another target, the Champions League, has not started but we must try to go far.”
