Man United transfers: Moyes satisfied with squad despite Liverpool loss
Man United transfers: David Moyes insists he is not worried about his squad, even if he fails to bring in any new players
David Moyes insists he is not worried about the quality of Manchester United’s squad – even if the Red Devils fail to bring in any new players before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Moyes watched his side stutter to their first Premier League defeat of the season at Anfield as Daniel Sturridge’s early goal proved decisive on Merseyside.
United are yet to bring in any new players apart from Guillermo Varela this summer despite having been linked with a host of big names.
But despite the result, the Scot insists he was impressed by what he saw from his team at Anfield, and suggested United are not desperate to make new signings before the 2300BST deadline on Monday.
“I thought we played really well,” Moyes, whose side have four points from their opening three games, told BBC Sport.
“We had [possession for] long periods of the game but couldn’t score. Apart from the lapse in concentration for their goal, we played well. We got two or three opportunities but it was unfortunate we didn’t take them.
“From what I saw today, I’m more than happy with what I’ve got. It’s the best we’ve played this season. I wouldn’t be worried if I didn’t add to the squad.”
United are reportedly still hopeful of signing Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini from Everton before Monday’s deadline.
