Man United transfers: Nani reveals he received "important offers" from suitors this summer but opted to remain at Red Devils
Nani has revealed he had “important offers” from interested clubs this summer but opted to stay and fight for his place at Manchester United.
The Portugal international had one season remaining on his Red Devils deal before he signed a new five-year deal with the reigning Premier League champions last week.
Nani was linked with a host of top European clubs in the summer transfer window, including Arsenal, Galatasaray and Tottenham Hotspur, but opted to remain at Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old has produced mixed form since moving to United in 2007, but endured a particularly disappointing 2012/13 campaign as he racked up just two goals in 10 Premier League appearances.
However, Nani revealed manager David Moyes helped convince the midfielder to stay at the club.
“I am very content with my new deal at Manchester United,” Nani told the Mirror. “This summer was not easy but after a lot of thought and talking to David Moyes I believe it was the best solution.
“I feel I can offer many things to United. I had other important offers but without a sufficient challenge to make me want to leave United.
“The coach would not guarantee me a place in the XI more than any other player. I know I must work hard to get into this team. That is my objective for this season.”
