Man United transfers: Reds Devils wanted Son Heung-Min, says agent
Man United transfers: Son Heung-Min was a summer target for the Red Devils, according to the South Korean's agent
Son Heung-Min was a Manchester United target this summer, according to the South Korea international’s agent.
The 21-year-old sealed a move to Bayer Leverkusen from Hamburg in a €10m (£8.5m) deal in August despite touted interest from the Premier League champions.
Son was impressive in his third season at the Hamburg outfit as the winger scored 12 goals and made two assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances.
And the forward’s agent claims Son had the option to join the Red Devils but decided to move to Sami Hyypia’s side as he looks to make the next step in his career.
“Manchester wanted Sonny, they had a strong interest and had contacted HSV. We already talked,” Son’s agent told Bild.
“Their interest honoured him, but Leverkusen made the better impression. It’s the ideal interim stage for his career right now.”
Son has already scored one goal in four appearances for Leverkusen, who are set to face United, as well as Real Sociedad and Shakhtar Donetsk, in the Champions League group stage.
