Mesut Ozil has spoken of his pride at joining Arsenal and believes that Arsene Wenger is the right man to get the best out of him.
The Germany international was unveiled to the media at the Gunners’ training base on Thursday following his club-record £42.5m move from Real Madrid earlier this month.
The 24-year-old is in line to make his Arsenal debut when Wenger’s men travel to Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.
And Ozil, who has penned a five-year deal with the club, insists he already feels comfortable with the Gunners.
“It feels great to be here,” said Ozil. “It is really great. I feel very good here and it is great to be part of this team.
“The city is very nice. I feel very well at this team, the boss is great and I am sure he will improve me. I am proud to be a part of this team.
“I am really looking forward to this task. I have only heard good things. This is a very successful club, with young players who can develop very well here and that is one of the reasons I wanted to come here.
“The most important thing was what the manager thinks about me and what his plan for me is. I decided to come to Arsenal because I have the trust and familiar environment here.”
Arsenal boss Wenger added: “Ozil has a style that will integrate our style of play. He has all the attributes to be one of our leaders.”
