Ospreys boss Steve Tandy hails Dan Biggar’s form
Ospreys boss Steve Tandy says he is impressed with Wales international Dan Biggar's early-season form
Dan Biggar’s form two months out from the autumn internationals and five from the Six Nations already has his club coach at Ospreys Steve Tandy purring.
The 23-year-old fly-half, who has 18 caps for Wales, the last of which came on their summer tour of Japan, was the star turn as Ospreys defeated Treviso in their PRO12 opener.
Biggar kicked two penalties and two drop goals and converted Scott Baldwin’s first-half score as Ospreys won 24-19 to exact revenge on the reversal at the start of last season.
He was playing as part of half-back pairing with Tito Tebaldi for the first time and Ospreys head coach Tandy couldn’t get enough of his impact in the win.
“Dan was emotionally smart,” Tandy told WalesOnline. “Apart from the two drop goals he knocked over, he also ran the game well.
“He was just about spot on in everything he did really, and he combined very effectively with Tito, who had a fine debut.
“We certainly struggled here [at Treviso] last year, but thankfully things went in our favour this time around. I don’t think too many teams will get out of here with a win this season.”
