Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale not worth £85.3m, says Zinedine Zidane
Real Madrid sporting director Zinedine Zidane says Gareth Bale is not worth his £85.3m world-record fee

Zinedine Zidane says Real Madrid’s world-record signing Gareth Bale is not worth his £85.3m transfer fee.
The Wales international penned a six-year deal with Los Blancos after the 24-year-old finally completed his big-money move to the Spanish capital on deadline day.
Zindane formerly held the title of the world’s most expensive player after the World Cup winner swapped Juventus for Real Madrid in a £63m deal in 2001.
The former France international played a big part in luring the Tottenham Hotspur winger to the Bernabeu in the summer transfer window.
But Zidane does not feel Bale is worth the titanic fee which Madrid paid for the PFA player and young player of the year.
“Ten years ago I was bought for £63m and I said I was not worth this,” Zidane said.
“Now I would think that a player is not worth this. It’s football, unfortunately it’s incomprehensible with what is happening to pay so much.”
