Roberto Soldado was full of praise for Christian Eriksen after the Tottenham new-boy impressed in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Norwich City.

Eriksen, who arrived at White Hart Lane from Ajax in an £11.5m deal, produced an eye-catching performance on his first appearance for the north London club as two Gylfi Sigurdsson goals gave Spurs three points at White Hart Lane.

And Soldado, one of seven new players to join the club this summer following Gareth Bale’s departure, was hugely impressed by the 21-year-old’s first showing after he set up Sigurdsson for Spurs’ opener.

“He is a brilliant player,” Soldado is quoted as saying by the Guardian.

“It’s incredible that he has got up to this level already in his first game in English football. It’s great for him, for the team. He is a player who is capable of improving all of us.

“He is a player that makes everything look easy and that’s good for us.

“Today he made the difference, he’s a player that can support us in everything we do. He can offer us a lot of passes to everyone who plays in attack for Spurs.”

Reflecting on his debut, Eriksen added: “It felt really good. I’m really happy to be here. Hopefully this season, or maybe after [we can challenge for the title]. But this is an exciting season.”
