Surrey’s Chris Tremlett thrilled to be included in England Ashes squad
Surrey fast bowler Chris Tremlett expresses his delight to get through an injury nightmare and make England's Ashes squad
Chris Tremlett has spoken of his delight to get through his injury nightmare and make England’s Ashes squad for the tour of Australia this winter.
The 32-year-old hasn’t featured in an England Test since January 2012 after the fast bowler underwent back and knee operations over the past 12 months.
However, Tremlett’s Surrey performances have the caught the eye of the England selectors and he was included in the 17-man squad on Monday.
“People don’t really have any idea how hard it has been to get back,” Tremlett told BBC Sport.
“I guess the mental trauma is something I have had to deal with but it is great to get through that.”
He added: “To get back bowling has taken time.
“Even at the start of the season I wasn’t really at my best and it took a couple of months to find my feet again.
“In the last couple of months I feel I am bowling as well as I was a couple of years ago.
“I still feel I have got some left in the tank to find that form when I was playing for England.”
Tremlett, who has played 11 Tests for England, has taken 32 wickets in 11 matches for Surrey this season.
