Tottenham transfers: The Gareth Bale transfer saga looks to be over after Andre Villas-Boas confirms he is to join Real Madrid

The Gareth Bale transfer saga finally looks to be over after Andre Villas-Boas confirmed that the Wales international is set to join Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old’s future has been a source of relentless speculation all summer following Spurs’ failure to finish in the top four last season – but he has now finally been granted his wish to move to Spain.
“He’s going to join Real Madrid, so we wish him all the best,” said Villas-Boas after Spurs’ 1-0 loss at Arsenal.
“He leaves with great memories from last season, which I think every Tottenham fan cherishes.
“But he has moved on, and we move on as well.”
Bale is understood to have penned a six-year deal with the La Liga giants after Real Madrid agreed what is thought to be a world-record £86m fee.
The Wales international, who scored 21 Premier League goals for the Lilywhites last season as he won the PFA player of the year award, could be unveiled at the club as early as Monday.
Bale will be the 13th British player to play for Real Madrid and the first Welshman.
