Tottenham’s Andros Townsend hopes to seize England chance
Tottenham Hotspur's Andros Townsend hopes to replicate his club form if the winger is given the chance to shine for England
Andros Townsend says he hopes to replicate his Tottenham Hotspur form if he gets the chance to impress in an England shirt on Friday night.
The 22-year-old has made an impressive start to the season for the north London side after scoring his first Spurs goal in the Europa League before producing a match-winning display in a 1-0 victory over Swansea.
Townsend, who sparkled during a short-term loan at Queens Park Rangers in 2013, was included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine on the back of his club form.
“It’s a fantastic experience for me and a reward for my start to the season and the six months at QPR (last season),” Townsend told Tottenham’s website.
“My intention is to keep playing the way I’m playing, without fear and try and get some game time.
“As you’ve seen, the manager has faith in the youngsters, so hopefully I’ll do well if I get a chance.”
