Ukraine
Andrei Pyatov Little to deal with and deserved to keep a clean sheet. 6/10
Artem Fedetskiy Would have expected a tougher evening but wasn’t tested. 6
Yevhen Khacheridi The Ukraine centre-half managed to keep Lambert quiet as he produced a solid display. 7
Olexander Kucher Had little to do and rarely put a foot wrong, excluding his booking. 6
Vyacheslav Shevchuk The defender improved as the game went on. 5
Taras Stepanenko One of the the hosts’ better players as he produced decent performance. 7
De Lacerda Edmar The Brazilian-born midfielder did the basic things well for Ukraine. 7
Oleg Gusev He came off midway through the second period after unimpressive hour. 5

Yevgen Konoplianka Ukraine’s danger man had flashes of brilliance and was the hosts’ best player. 8
Roman Zozulya Had little service from his midfielders and couldn’t do much when given the chance. 5

England
Joe Hart The Manchester City goalkeeper had another dodgy night, although he did improve as the game went on. 6
Kyle Walker Arguably his worst performance in an England shirt, looked uncomfortable and was also booked, but the test will do him good long term. 4
Gary Cahill (Man of the match) England’s best player, superb from start to finish, probably cemented of his place for the foreseeable future. 8
Phil Jagielka Not a bad game for the Everton defender but will need to improve if he expects to play in Brazil.6
Ashley Cole Consistent as always and probably the most reliable player England have to call upon. 7
Jack Wilshere Went down too frequently and did not show his class, unsurprisingly substituted. 5
Frank Lampard His night will be remembered for winning his 100th cap and little else – an off day for the veteran. 5
Steven Gerrard Risky duck almost cost England early on but the skipper improved, and as always, gave his all. 7
James Milner One of England’s better players and is suited to games like these. The City midfielder did the ugly things very well. 7
Theo Walcott Not one of his best nights but received little service, which did not help the Arsenal man perform. 6
Rickie Lambert The honeymoon period is over for the Southampton striker. He didn’t have a clear chance and failed to hold the ball up as well as he would have liked. 5
Substitutes
Ashley Young Poor cameo from the winger and Hodgson may have regretted not bringing on Townsend. 5
Tom Cleverley N/A
