Viktoria Plzen

Matúš Kozáčik Smart save early on from Navas’ fizzing strike and Dzeko’s header but could nothing about the goals. 6/10

Václav Procházka Became overwhelmed by City’s attacking strength after a strong first half. 5

Lukáš Hejda Caught out by Aguero’s strength for Dzeko’s goal and struggled to contain the City strike-force. 4

Tomáš Hořava Showed some neat footwork but was largely frustrated by Zabaleta. 5

David Limberský Prevented a certain goal by cutting out Aguero’s cut-back to Navas, one of the few times he got the better of the Spanish winger. Got booked for diving. 6

Pavel Horváth The experienced 38-year-old put in a shift that wound back the years with some testing balls for the City defence to deal with. Faded in the second half as City started to dominate. 7

Milan Petržela Asked questions of City’s defence with some direct running but couldn’t find the final ball. 6

Jan Kovařík Looked certain to score but his strike was blocked en route to goal by Zabaleta. 5

Daniel Kolář Nothing spectacular from Kolar who was nullified by a Nastasic. 5

František Rajtoral City eased past him at times but he put in a few decent crosses. 5

Marek Bakoš Marked out of the game in his striking role but dropped back well to help out the midfield. 6

Substitutes

Roman Hubník A few tidy passes but the game seemed to be already lost when he came on. 5

Michal Ďuriš Failed to influence the game on the right much like Kolar. 5

Stanislav Tecl Came on with City dominating and didn’t have time to affect the game. 5

Man City

Joe Hart Parried a free-kick from Horvath but was largely untroubled. 6

Pablo Zabaleta Got forward when he could but wasn’t troubled defensively by Plzen’s midfield. 6

Vincent Kompany Looked rusty in his first game back from injury and sold Hart short with a back-pass, almost playing Bakos in. Will be pleased to get 90 minutes under his belt. 6

Matija Nastasić A steady performance from the young centre-back. Some good covering tackles helped keep Kolar in his pocket. 8

Aleksandr Kolarov Picked up a needless early booking for a handball and was lucky not to be sent off for a harsh tackle on Petzela moments later. Got forward well and created a few chances for Aguero and Dzeko. 6

Samir Nasri Nasri’s corners caused problems for Plzen but team-mates failed to make the most of his set-piece delivery. Provided a good link between the midfield and attack. 7

Jesús Navas Lively throughout the match. Navas tormented Limbersky and controlled the flow of the game from the right flank. 7

Fernandinho Didn’t really get into the game early on and picked up a booking for a trip on Petrzela. Wasn’t given much space to control the tempo of the match. 6

Yaya Toure Strong performance in midfield, making some crucial interceptions that broke up Plzen’s attacks. Scored a fantastic goal which dipped and curled beyond the goalkeeper’s reach. 8

Edin Dzeko Linked up well with Aguero for his goal by getting himself in space to calmly slot the ball home. Should’ve scored earlier but nodded his point-blank header straight at Kozacik. 7

Sergio Aguero (Man of the match) Typically tireless running and strength from the Argentine to set up Dzeko’s goal and effortlessly slotted the ball into the corner for City’s third through a crowd of players. A constant threat who created issues for Plzen. 9

Substitutes

James Milner A typical Milner performance – full of running and effort and did well defensively. 6

Javi Garcia Only given ten minutes on the pitch but was tidy both defensively and with his passing.

Álvaro Negredo Played Aguero in with a minute to go but aside from that he didn’t see much of the ball. 5
