The Blues have been credited with an interest in the forward in recent days, with the latest reports claiming that the Premier League side are willing to negotiate a deal which would see Demba Ba move to Turkey.
Now, Galatasaray chairman Unal Aysal has fuelled speculation linking Yilmaz with a move to Stamford Bridge by admitted the Turkish could would not stop the player from leaving if the right offer came in.
“If he wants to go and Chelsea are interested then of course, why not?” Aysal said.
“I favour Turkish players going to Europe to play in European leagues.”
Asked if Chelsea had already made an approach, he added: “No, not yet. We had some requests from Lazio at the end of the summer, but the deal didn’t go through because the conditions were not satisfied.”
The 28-year-old Yilmaz has scored 34 goals in 45 games for the Turkish club since moving to Galatasaray from Trabzonspor in the summer of 2012.
