Karim El Ahmadi has warned Tottenham Hotspur that Aston Villa are aiming to repeat their Arsenal and Manchester City heroics at Villa Park on Sunday.

Paul Lambert’s men have already secured the two big-name scalps of the Gunners and the Citizens in the Premier League this season ahead of the north London side’s trip to Birmingham this weekend.

Tottenham travel to the midlands fresh from a first loss to West Ham United at White Hart Lane in 14 years, with Sam Allardyce’s men emphatic 3-0 winners against title-chasing Spurs almost a fortnight ago.

And Villa midfielder El Ahmadi has challenged his team-mates to continue their good run against the top teams this season.

“We have to go and show we can play against the big teams like we did against Arsenal and Man City. Tottenham will be the same,” El Ahmadi told Villa’s website.

He added: “It was very important to win the first home game and I think it will give us confidence to make us harder to beat and to win more games at Villa Park.”
