Villas-Boas gives latest Tottenham injury update ahead of Man City clash
Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas expects Christian Eriksen's ankle injury to keep him out for up to four weeks
Andre Villas-Boas expects Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen to be sidelined for up to four weeks.
The 21-year-old, who joined from Ajax this summer, suffered an ankle injury in the first half of Denmark’s friendly against neighbours Norway as the hosts secured a 2-1 win at the MCH Arena last Friday.
The north London side insisted that the attacking midfielder is set to make a relatively swift return earlier this week after a scan revealed sprained ankle ligaments.
“Eriksen is out for four weeks due to his injury for Denmark,” Villas-Boas told a media conference ahead of Tottenham’s clash at Manchester City on Sunday.
Villas-Boas also refused to criticise international managers following Eriksen’s injury blow.
“It’s not my call. It’s the choices of the coaches,” he added.
Villas-Boas confirmed that he has a full squad to choose from for the City clash, aside from Eriksen and England Under-21 international Danny Rose (foot).
“Danny Rose is still out but he’s making progress on his injury,” he continued. “We’re looking for a two or three-week period before his return.
“The rest of the team is back in training.”
