Jack Wilshere insisted that Arsenal can be content with a routine victory after his two goals fired the Gunners past Marseille.

The England international gave the hosts the lead inside 30 seconds when he curled home a delightful left-footed shot from inside the box.

Mesut Ozil then saw his penalty saved just before half-time, but Wilshere fired in the Germany international’s cross in the 65th minute to secure victory for the north Londoners and put them in control of Group F.

Wilshere told ITV1: “It was strange because we lost the ball after 10 seconds and they had a chance. But we broke really well, got in behind quickly and got a goal.

“We created a lot of chances tonight but we’ll look back at tonight as a good win. They’re a good team and maybe on another night we would have scored more goals.”

Wilshere also insisted he is feeling fit following his struggled with persistent ankle injuries.

“I played 90 minutes on Saturday, I got 70 minutes tonight and I’m feeling good at the moment,” said Wilshere.

“We’ve got a big game on Saturday in the league and we’ve got to keep that run going. I’m concentrating on getting fit and helping the team.”
