Mesut Ozil will not take part in Germany’s friendly clash against England at Wembley on Tuesday, manager Joachim Low has confirmed.

The 25-year-old Arsenal playmaker has been withdrawn from the squad, along with Philipp Lahm and Manuel Neuer, as Low plans to test a number of fringe players against Roy Hodgson’s men.

“The game against England is the last chance to test tactics and personnel before the World Cup,” Low said.

“Lahm, Neuer and Ozil are the absolute core, for me it’s important to give other players in key positions a chance to prove themselves against a great team like England.”

Ozil played the final half-hour of Germany’s 1-1 friendly draw against Italy on Friday night.
