Julian Draxler has further fuelled speculation linking him with a transfer to Arsenal by admitting that he is a keen admirer of the Gunners.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the 20-year-old midfielder, who has scored 14 goals in 86 Bundesliga games for Schalke, over the summer.

And the Germany international has revealed that he is a fan of Arsenal’s philosophy – although he insists that a January move is not on the cards.

“I have always said English teams are very big clubs and Arsenal is of course one of them,” said Draxler.

“Of course I sometimes speak to Mesut Ozil or Per Mertesacker about the team, about the club, and they always have good words and they tell me nice things.

“They always have very young players, they play attractive football and that’s what I like.

“You never know what happens – but Arsenal is a very, very nice team.”

He continued: “I won’t switch in the winter. It’s very important for me to play nearly every game. For my club I have the chance to play nearly every game, it’s important for me to improve myself.

“I’ve said every summer I have to look what is the best for me and I will do in the summer again and we will see what happens.”
