Jack Wilshere has heaped praise on Bacary Sagna and Mesut Ozil for their impressive displays for Arsenal against Marseille on Tuesday.

The Gunners took a big step towards the Champions League last 16 as Wilshere scored both goals in 2-0 victory over the French side at Emirates Stadium.

Right-back Sagna found Wilshere in the build-up to the midfielder’s opener, while Mesut Ozil made amends for his first-half penalty miss by setting up Arsenal’s second goal.

And the 21-year-old Wilshere was full of praise for the duo after the win, which saw Arsenal take control of their Champions League group.

“Bac’s been doing it all season,” said Wilshere. “He had another one with Theo at the end when he put him in as well.

“We could have scored a few goals from his crosses in Manchester, so hopefully he can keep that going for the rest of the season.

“[For the second goal] it was really unselfish from Mesut. Sometimes after a [missed] penalty you feel like you have to score.

“But the player he is, he’s been in that situation before and he’s unselfishly passed it across the goal and it was an easy tap-in for me.”
