David Luiz insists he is not worried about his Chelsea future and is focused on working hard to impress manager Jose Mourinho.

The Brazil international was dropped for his side’s 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion before the international break after his role in a 2-0 loss at Newcastle United earlier this month.

The 26-year-old has only started five of Chelsea’s 11 Premier League games this season, but the reported Barcelona target is remaining calm about his current selection battle.

“It will be like it has always been, I am never worried,” Luiz told UOL. “I train hard and seriously every day, he has his options.”

Meanwhile, former Blues manager and current Brazil head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari refused to criticise Mourinho’s selection policy despite his centre-half lacking first-team action.

“It depends on the managers and the clubs where they play if the players will be starters,” said Scolari.

“When I call up someone for the national team, I do so based on my observations. I won’t interfere in their job because I don’t want any of them to interfere in my call ups.”
