Radamel Falcao has played down the significance of Jose Mourinho travelling to watch Colombia’s 2-0 win against Belgium.

The 27-year-old Monaco striker scored a second-half strike to help his country ease past their European opponents in Brussels on Thursday night.

Falcao, who was a reported Blues target before joining Monaco this summer, has scored eight goals in 11 Ligue 1 appearances this term.

Chelsea have been linked with a big-money move for the former Atletico Madrid forward ahead of the January transfer window.

But Falcao insisted he is happy at Monaco, adding that Mourinho watched the friendly for the sheer spectacle and not to convince the forward to move.

“He (Mourinho) came here to see good football, played by good players and to see a good spectacle,” Falcao told Sky Sports News.

“The Premier League is one of the most important leagues in the world but I am playing well and enjoying Monaco.”

Falcao scored 70 goals in 91 La Liga appearances for Atletico Madrid before completing a reported €60m (£50.1m) move to Monaco.
