Jens Lehmann has tipped Mesut Ozil to inspire Arsenal to a Premier League and Champions League double this season.

The Gunners have made a flying start to the new campaign and are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League table, despite a 1-0 loss to Manchester United in their last outing.

Arsenal’s fine form has in part been credited to the arrival of Ozil in a club-record £42.5m deal on transfer deadline day.

And former Gunners goalkeeper Lehmann feels that Arsene Wenger’s men have what it takes to compete in all the major competitions this season.

Asked if Arsenal can win the Champions League this season, Lehmann told talkSPORT: “Of course. They have a chance to win everything.

“It’s always good to lead the league and with Ozil they have a very technically gifted player.

“I hope he will add something to the squad in big games and they can go all the way to the Champions League final in Lisbon and win the Premier League title.”
