Lewis Holtby is backing Andros Townsend to continue his brilliant run of form for Tottenham and England in the coming months.

The Tottenham winger has been one of his club’s standout performers this season, producing form which has earned him a starting spot in Roy Hodgson’s England side.

And Holtby believes that the 22-year-old will continue to impress for the rest of the season and in the build-up to next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

“Like Germany, England have started a very good new youth development academy and are bringing up good young players, and I think they have a promising future,” Holtby told talkSPORT.

“Andros, for example, has just come out of nowhere. He’s playing outstanding football and producing it week-in, week-out.

“The confidence he has to take on players is just fantastic, I feel very happy for him and it’s great to have him at Spurs and I hope he keeps producing that form for us for the rest of the season.”
