Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet: Derby point ‘very important’ if we beat Hull
Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet believes their derby point could be "very important" if the Reds beat Hull City next weekend
Simon Mignolet believes Liverpool’s derby point could prove to be “very important” if the Reds beat Hull City next weekend.
Liverpool were guilty of twice surrendering a lead at Goodison Park before Romelu Lukaku scored his second goal of the afternoon to leave Everton on the brink of a 3-2 win.
However, substitute Daniel Sturridge scored a last-gasp equaliser to rescue a point at their derby rivals after Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez had earlier netted for the Reds.
“I have to be honest once they scored at 3-2 you think you are losing the game but looking back we are always there scoring goals,” Mignolet said.
“We always get a chance with Daniel and Luis and we know they have goals. Daniel scored the equaliser which was very important for us as it means we can keep going in the way we started this season and make sure we build on that.
“If we win next week this can be a very important point for us.”
Mignolet moved to Liverpool from Sunderland in a £9m deal in July.
