Martin Keown believes England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard would be good enough to get into Joachim Low’s Germany side.

The Three Lions skipper produced an impressive performance in central-midfield despite being unable to prevent the hosts from suffering a 1-0 loss to Germany at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Gerrard, who famously scored against the three-time world champions in a 5-1 win in Munich over 13 years ago, earned his 108th cap against the German, drawing level with Bobby Moore.

And former Arsenal defender Keown heaped praise on the 33-year-old Liverpool midfielder.

“[Steven Gerrard] has everything,” Keown told the Daily Mail. “I was sitting near some Germany fans and they were really impressed with the England captain.

“He covered so much ground, set the pace for his team, played quick passes forward and almost scored with a first-half effort from outside the box.

“Would any England player get into the Germany team? Steven Gerrard would.”
