Manuel Pellegrini has rubbished reports suggesting Manchester City could send Joe Hart on loan to Stoke City in January.

The England number one has been out-of-favour at the Citizens following a high-profile error which handed Chelsea three points against City at Stamford Bridge in October.

Pellegrini has restored Hart to his starting line-up to face Viktoria Plzen for the first time since disaster struck in west London, and the Chilean is adamant City aren’t in the market for a new goalkeeper.

“There is a lot of news about six or seven goalkeepers that we want to buy but it is not true,” Pellegrini said.

“There is no chance that Joe Hart could go out of this squad in January.”

Despite recalling Hart for Wednesday’s clash, Pellegrini refused to confirm whether the Englishman would regain his place from Costel Pantilimon for their game against Swansea City on Sunday.

“I think that is a question for next Saturday,” he added.

“When we start the next game of the Premier League we will talk about who will start playing.

“The important thing for Joe is that he will play tomorrow and we hope he will have a very good performance.”
