Man United transfers: Moyes only after the ‘right players’ in January
Man United transfers: David Moyes insists he will only delve into the January market if "exactly the right players" are available
David Moyes insists that Manchester United will only delve into the January transfer market if “exactly the right players” become available.
The Red Devils have been linked with a host of names in the build-up to the mid-season transfer window, including Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera and Everton defender Leighton Baines.
But the United boss insisted that he is only out to recruit the right talent and won’t be forced into splashing the cash just for the sake of it.
Asked if the club would conduct any business in January, Moyes replied: “Only if the right players are available and they fit into exactly what we want.
“We would like to but as always there is never any guarantee. If they’re [Everton] determined to hold on to [Baines] then he won’t be going anywhere and it’s worthless asking any questions.”
Speaking last week, Moyes admitted that it may take up to four transfer windows to successfully bring in the right players.
“It has to be a continual building process here,” he said. “We will continue to look to do that. In any one window you couldn’t change it all around anyway.
“It takes maybe two, three or four windows to do that. To talk about January and make it sound as if that would be the place where everything is cured and any problems would be resolved would be wrong.”
