Carrick hails ‘fantastic’ Moyes after signing new Man United deal
Michael Carrick heaps praise on David Moyes after signing a new Manchester United contract until June 2015
Michael Carrick heaped praise on David Moyes after signing a new Manchester United contract to keep the midfielder at the club until June 2015.
The 32-year-old is currently recovering from an Achilles injury he aggravated in the 1-0 Premier League win over Arsenal earlier this month but was quick to praise his new manager after penning the new deal.
“It is great to extend my contract at this great club,” Carrick said. “I am really enjoying my football.
“The club has gone through a few changes and working under David Moyes has been fantastic. I have won many trophies in my years playing here and I am looking forward to achieving more in the future.”
Carrick, who joined United from Tottenham in July 2006, has won five Premier League titles, one League Cup, a Fifa Club World Cup and a Champions League with the Red Devils.
And Moyes described the England international as a “true professional”.
“I am delighted Michael has extended his contract,” said Moyes. “During my short time at the club it hasn’t been hard to notice that Michael is a great reader of the game and has excellent passing ability.
“He is an exceptional man and a true professional and it’s great that he has committed himself to the club.”
