Oscar: I was close to joining Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho

Oscar has revealed that he came within a whisker of securing a transfer to Real Madrid before eventually opting to join Chelsea last year.
The Brazil international moved to the Blues on a five-year contract in a £25m deal from Internacional back in July 2012.
But the 22-year-old says he was close to sealing a switch to the La Liga side after Jose Mourinho made his interest in the midfielder known.
“A month before signing for Chelsea I was very close to doing so with Real Madrid as Mourinho said he wanted me,” Oscar told Globoesporte.
“They came to watch me in the game against Denmark.
“Before the games there were talks with Madrid, but they had the playmaker position well covered. After the games, I signed for Chelsea.”
Oscar has been a mainstay of Mourinho’s starting line-up since the Portuguese coach’s return to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
The midfielder has started 14 games for the Blues so far this season and has scored five goals, notching up two assists as Mourinho often preferred to deploy him in the No10 position ahead of Juan Mata.
“He [Mourinho] talked to me as soon as I came to Chelsea,” Oscar added. “He gives me confidence and I’m trying to return all such support on the pitch.”
