Mauricio Pochettino has warned his Southampton side that they are set to come up against one of the top 10 players in the world in the form of Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil on Saturday.

Pochettino takes his high-flying Saints side to Emirates Stadium looking to keep up their stunning start to the season, which has left them just three points behind league leaders Arsenal.

But the Southampton manager is wary of the threat posed by Ozil, who has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers since his arrival from Real Madrid in a club-record £42.5m deal in September.

“I rate Mesut Ozil as one of the top 10 players in the world,” said Pochettino.

“I would say that the team that we’re going to play against on Saturday is the one that’s playing the best football in the league.

“I think they can win the league, but I also think that there’s other teams that are going to be in the running to win the league.”
