Tottenham’s Lewis Holtby: Spurs need to score more goals
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby admits the north London side haven't score enough goals this season
Lewis Holtby has admitted Tottenham Hotspur need to score more goals after struggling in the early stages of the season.
Andre Villas-Boas’ men have managed to net nine goals in 11 Premier League games, including three Roberto Soldado penalties.
Spurs travel to top-four rivals Manchester City on Sunday, and Germany international Holtby urged his team-mates to start finding the net on a more regular basis.
“We have only scored nine goals in the Premier League this season, and with the quality that we have in our side, I don’t think that is enough,” Holtby told Sky Sports News.
“We’re still improving and trying to find ourselves, because we had a lot of signings during the summer.”
Earlier this week, Holtby’s agent Marcus Noack played down the chances of his client quitting White Hart Lane despite finding his first-team opportunities limited.
“Lewis has definitely no intention of leaving Tottenham,” Marcus Noack told Goal. “On the contrary, he feels very comfortable at the club and in London.
“He wants to establish himself further and contribute so the club can reach its goals this season.”
