Christian Eriksen could be sidelined for up to six weeks after the Tottenham midfielder picked up an ankle injury on international duty.

The 21-year-old lasted just 40 minutes of Denmark’s friendly against neighbours Norway as the hosts secured a 2-1 win at the MCH Arena.

Eriksen completed an £11.5m move to White Hart Lane at the end of the transfer window to become one of seven new recruits to move to the club.

And Denmark manager Martin Olsen admitted it was bad news for Eriksen and Spurs.

“We don’t know if he’s out for four or six weeks or how long it will take,” Olsen said.

“It’s bad for him at a new club.”

Eriksen has made one assist in 11 appearances for the north London side this term following his move to White Hart Lane from Eredivisie champions Ajax.

Tottenham, who are currently seventh, face a challenging run of fixtures which sees Andre Villas-Boas’s side face Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool before Christmas.
