Townsend: England have ‘great chance’ of winning World Cup
Andros Townsend declares his belief that England have a "great chance" of winning next summer's World Cup
Andros Townsend has declared his belief that England have a “great chance” of winning next summer’s World Cup.
The Tottenham midfielder played an important role in the Three Lions’ final two qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland as Roy Hodgson’s men booked their place at next summer’s tournament in Brazil.
And the 22-year-old is convinced that the wealth of talent at Hodgson’s disposal means that England have a good chance of claiming the title next year.
“I think we’ve got a great chance of winning it,” Townsend told Metro.
“We’ve done really well in the qualifiers and that’s given us a big confidence boost. We’ll be well prepared and I’m feeling good about our chances.
“We have world-class players with experience. Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole – they’re all experienced and bring real quality to the table.
“When you’ve got those guys in your team, you always have a chance.”
