Wenger gives latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Cardiff trip
Left-back Kieran Gibbs will be fit for Arsenal's trip to Cardiff City on Saturday after recovering from illness
Kieran Gibbs will be fit for Arsenal’s trip to Cardiff City on Saturday after recovering from illness, Arsene Wenger has revealed.
The left-back sat out the Gunners’ 2-0 Champions League win over Marseille on Tuesday due to sickness but the Frenchman has confirmed that the England international has recovered in time for the weekend’s game.
“Kieran Gibbs was sick but he has already recovered yesterday. He is now back in the squad,” said Wenger, who went on to confirm that the Gunners have no new injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s clash.
“Nothing is different from Marseille really,” he said. “We have no injuries. Of course we have some little concerns. People were a little bit rested like Mikel Arteta, but they are all available now.”
Wenger also confirmed that Lukas Podolski is still three weeks away from making his return from a hamstring problem, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) is not expected to be fit until the new year.
Arsenal travel to Cardiff looking to preserve their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
