Arsenal have been setting the pace at the top of the Premier League table in impressive fashion so far this season.

But it seems that the Gunners are also leading the way online, after the north London side topped the list of most searched-for sports teams in Britain in 2013 ahead of Liverpool, defending champions Manchester United and Chelsea.

In figures released by search engine Bing, Arsene Wenger’s men lead the way ahead of the Reds, with north London rivals Tottenham the seventh-most searched for team.

The data also shows that Barcelona star Lionel Messi was the most searched for sportsperson, beating Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Britain’s Gareth Bale, who has replaced Victoria Pendleton as the nation’s most searched for local sportsperson.

Meanwhile, Team GB star and Olympic champion Mo Farah is also the only non-footballer to make the top five in 2013.
