Arsenal’s nine-point lead over Man United is nothing, says Paul Scholes
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Arsenal's nine-point lead over the Red Devils is nothing
Paul Scholes believes Arsenal’s nine-point lead over Manchester United in the Premier League title race is “nothing”.
The Red Devils fell further behind the league leaders following a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
It’s early days, nine points is nothing at this stage
United were 1-0 winners against the Gunners earlier in the season, and former Red Devils midfielder Scholes isn’t sure whether Arsenal can continue their current form.
“Arsenal are obviously stronger than they’ve been in the past seven, eight years,” Scholes told Sportsmail.
“I don’t think they’ve had a start like this or a lead like this. Whether they can sustain that I’m really not too sure.
“It’s early days, nine points is nothing at this stage. Once you get to January time that’s the time we get going and if we can stay in and around it I think we’ll have a great chance of winning the league.”
Meanwhile, David Beckham spoke of his admiration for Arsenal’s style but stressed that he still wants United to win the Premier League crown.
“Arsenal are doing very well this season,” Beckham said. “They’ve always played attractive football. They’ve bought some great players into the team so it’s good to see.
“But I still hope Man United beat them. It doesn’t change.”
