Arsenal transfers: Ángel Di María not for sale, insists Carlo Ancelotti
Arsenal transfers: Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti insists winger Ángel Di María is not for sale amid reported Arsenal interest
Carlo Ancelotti says Real Madrid winger Ángel Di María won’t be allowed to leave the Spanish capital in the January transfer window.
The Argentina international has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent months following Mesut Ozil’s club-record £42.5m switch to the Gunners on transfer deadline day this summer.
I gave my OK for Mesut Ozil’s exit. It’s not the same with Angel Di Maria
Whilst Ancelotti was happy to allow the German to quit the Bernabeu, the Real Madrid manager considers Di Maria a valuable member of the Italian’s Los Blancos squad.
“I gave my OK for Ozil’s exit. It’s not the same with Di María, he is a very important player for this team,” said Ancelotti.
“Di María hasn’t talked with me or the club. He is happy and calm but my office door is always open if he needs to talk.”
In September, Di María spoke of his delight to remain at Madrid in the short-term after a summer of persistent speculation surrounding his future.
“The coach has faith in me and that makes me happy and my family too, which is important,” Di María told Fox Sports Radio. “That’s why I’ve decided to stay.”
Di María has scored one goal and made two assists in 14 La Liga appearances under Ancelotti this season.
