Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Michy Batshuayi with a view to a January swoop for the striker, Standard Liege have confirmed.

The 20-year-old forward has impressed for the Belgian side this term, scoring 12 goals in 17 league matches.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with a number of strikers as he looks to bolster the attacking options available to him at Emirates Stadium.

Now, Liege president Roland Duchatelet has confirmed that the north London club are keeping tabs on the highly-rated Belgium Under-21 international.

“We know that Arsenal are one of many clubs who follow Michy,” Duchatelet is quoted as saying by Metro.

“There’s nothing new about their interest, but we know they follow him closely.”

However, Duchatelet insists that Liege do not want to cash-in on the player during next month’s transfer window.

“We’re not willing to let Michy go, especially in the January transfer window,” he said. “This is not possible.”
