Arsene Wenger: Luis Suarez turns into a ‘demon’ on the pitch
Arsenal's Arsene Wenger admits he is still a keen admirer of Liverpool's "demon" striker Luis Suárez
Arsene Wenger admits he still “dreams” of having Luis Suarez play for him at Arsenal, describing the Liverpool striker as an “angel who turns into a demon on the pitch”.
The Gunners had at least one official bid for the 26-year-old Uruguay international turned down by Liverpool during the summer as Wenger attempted to lure the forward to north London.
Suarez has started the new season in scintillating form, scoring 15 goals and making two assists in just 10 games for Brendan Rodgers’ men.
And Arsenal boss Wenger remains a keen admirer of the in-form striker, who continues to be linked with a transfer away from Anfield.
“He is an angel,” Wenger told Telefoot.
“He turns into a demon when he is on the pitch. We all dream of having players like that.
“According to information I had about him, he is beyond reproach away from the pitch.
“He has a provocative personality. All the English defenders hate to play against him.”
