Ashes 2013-14: Matt Prior ‘100%’ confident England still win series
Ashes 2013-14: Matt Prior remains confident England can win the series despite trailing Australia 2-0 ahead of the third Test
Matt Prior insists England can “100 per cent” still win the Ashes despite trailing Australia 2-0 in the current series.
The tourists were on the receiving end of a 281-run thrashing in second Test in Adelaide as Mitchell Johnson exposed England’s fragile batting line-up.
Alastair Cook’s men face the unenviable task of taking on the Australian fast bowler at his home ground, the Waca, in the third Test, which starts on Friday.
There is a huge amount of hunger in this dressing room to turn this around
But England wicket-keeper Prior, who found some form in the second Test, is confident the tourists can bounce back from their recent setbacks.
“Absolutely, 100 per cent,” Prior told BBC Sport.
“One thing I do know about this team is that when we get to this place we come out fighting. You have no option.”
He added: “You can sit there and sulk, moan, whinge and make excuses – but you will just get beaten. You have to get rid of all that and fight.
“People have written us off. We’re at Perth. We haven’t won here for however many years.
“But quite frankly that excites me. Records are there to be broken.
