Bayern 2 Man City 3: It’s ideal preparation for Arsenal, says Milner
Bayern 2 Man City 3: James Milner believes Tuesday's win is the perfect preparation for the clash against Arsenal
James Milner believes Manchester City made the perfect preparation for their clash against Arsenal after a spirited victory over Bayern Munich.
The Champions League holders stormed into a 2-0 lead courtesy for strikes from Thomas Mueller and Mario Gotze in the opening 12 minutes at the Allianz Arena.

However, Spain international David Silva, who was restored to the side after a spell sidelined with injury, halved Bayern’s advantage before half-time.
And Milner won a 59th-minute penalty which stand-in captain Aleksandar Kolarov converted past Manuel Neuer before the England midfielder netted the winner three minutes later.
“It was a terrible start and we let in some sloppy goals. They looked like they were going to walk away with it,” Milner told Sky Sports.
“But to come from two goals down against this sort of a side shows how much character that there is in the City dressing room.
“We need to step it up a gear. We didn’t start well and we couldn’t get hold of the ball. It’s not enough to win the group but it shows that we’re going to need that sort of performance in the next round against a top team.
“We showed how we can play and it’s great to score three goals.”
City, who are currently in fourth place, face Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday, and Milner believes their win against the reigning champions will provide a timely boost ahead of The Etihad clash.
“We need to keep that going. We’ve got a massive game at the weekend. It’s a key period and it’s a good way to start ahead of the weekend and the League Cup,” Milner added.
