Jose Mourinho has warned his Chelsea strikers that they must start to deliver in front of goal to boost Chelsea’s title hopes.

Between them, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba have just four Premier League goals to their names so far this season.

And with Chelsea third in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Arsenal, Mourinho accepts that his front men must improve their strike-rates.

“We have three strikers which is the perfect number,” said Mourinho, whose side host Steaua Bucharest on Wednesday.

“Sometimes I like two on the bench, sometimes I like to play with two. All of them are getting minutes and matches and they are all working very well for the team.

“But the number of goals in the Premier League is not what I want or what they want – that is obvious. Between them they have four goals but strikers also live on other things and they are giving me other things, no doubt.

“But we have to try to improve and wait for better days to score more goals and feel happier.”

Mourinho also confirmed that defender Ashley Cole will return to the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

“I know him well, it is easy to feel that he is not happy, not comfortable with the situation, but the way he trains is super professional, as always,” said Mourinho of Cole.

“When he is on the bench, I can feel his will to win, even if he is not the pitch. He is a fantastic guy, full from respect from me and the players and yes he starts tomorrow.”
