Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho wants Didier Drogba reunion in Champions League
Jose Mourinho wants the Blues to draw Galatasaray in Champions League last 16 so Didier Drogba can return to west London
Jose Mourinho says he wants Chelsea to get Galatasaray in Champions League last-16 draw so Didier Drogba can seal a return to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues secured top spot in Group E after Demba Ba struck a 10th-minute winner against Steaua Bucharest at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Galatasaray is difficult, very difficult but I would like Didier to be back here and to feel what I felt
Mourinho sealed an emotional return to Chelsea in June after spells in charge of Inter Milan and Real Madrid following his Blues exit in 2007.
And the Chelsea manager would love to see Drogba get a special reception from the supporters at Stamford Bridge if the west London side were drawn against Gala.
“He deserves a reception here, even better, he deserves it even more than me,” Mourinho said of Drogba, who won three league titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League at Chelsea.
“He deserves to get what I got against Hull City (in his first game back in charge this season). He deserves double to three times that. I know what I felt and I think he deserves that.
“So yes – Galatasaray is difficult, very difficult but I would like Didier to be back here and to feel what I felt.”
