Eden Hazard is confident that Chelsea can continue to challenge for the Premier League title and close the gap on Arsenal in the coming weeks.

The Belgium international was the star of the show as the Blues secured a thrilling 4-3 win at Sunderland on Wednesday night to keep within four points of Arsene Wenger’s league leaders.

Chelsea have a big chance to reduce Arsenal’s lead when they travel to Emirates Stadium on 23 December, and Hazard knows that the Blues can ill afford to drop points during a crucial stage of the season.

“Arsenal are top and now we need to take three points every game,” Hazard told Chelsea’s website.

“There are big teams with us and it is difficult, but we have a very good team, a young team but very good team and we will see after December and January.”

Hazard scored twice and set up Frank Lampard’s opener in a sparkling display at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday.

And the 22-year-old playmaker feels that it was his best display of the season so far.

“This season it is the best game for me,” he said. “I scored two and I made one assist to help the team and I am so happy.

“It was a very difficult game, a very difficult first 15 minutes,’ he added. ‘But after we conceded a goal we continued to improve to try to score and we are happy with three points.”
