James Chester Was not called upon in the first half but made two crucial interceptions in the second and played his part in keeping Stoke out. 6

Alex Bruce Manager Steve Bruce will be pleased with his son’s performance as he asserted his authority with a number of clearances in the game but had to come off after an injury. 6

Curtis Davies Should have opened the scoring after heading over just yards out but read the game at the back well for the hosts. 5

Maynor Figueroa Almost cost his side after miscontrolling and giving away possession but the Honduran was terrific getting forward all game and almost had an assist after setting up Elmohamady. 6

Ahmed Elmohamady Was lively and caused problems from the right flank but should have scored broken the deadlock after Figueroa’s dream ball set him up for a header yards out. 6

Tom Huddlestone It was clear to see he was desperate to make things happen and he got in good positions but could not find the final ball. 5

Jake Livermore The midfielder was influential at times but began to fade away from the game, though he had a half-chance to score but saw his volley go wide. 5

Yannick Sagbo Another impressive performance from the Ivory Coast attacker after coming close on occasions, including a great bit of play which saw him chest the ball and unleash a volley which went over. 6

Danny Graham Caused problems for the Stoke defence but after getting into the positions he was too indecisive and cost his side. 5

Marc Muniesa The former Barcelona man is still finding his feet but looked composed at the back when needed. 5

Marc Wilson As reliable as ever and did not put a foot wrong as he continues to warrant his place in Mark Hughes’s defence. 6

Geoff Cameron Went about his business quietly quite well in the second half after struggling to cope with Hull’s attack in the first. 5

Steven N’Zonzi Showed desire at times to get forward but had no impact on the match in a game where the visitors lacked a cutting edge. 5

Glenn Whelan Did not look comfortable during his time on the pitch, with him being replaced following numerous incidents of indecisiveness that could have cost his side. 4

Oussama Assaidi Looked good on the ball and could have produced a repeat of his goal last weekend after cutting in superbly but saw his shot go for a throw-in. 6

Stephen Ireland Put through a great ball to Arnautovic before half time and thought he scored after 71 mins but his tap-in was rightly ruled offside. 6

Marko Arnautovic The Austrian produced another mediocre performance as his inconsistent season continues but did produce a testing cross in the first half. 5

Peter Crouch Came close with a header and then a low drive in the closing stages after good movement but was denied by McGregor. 6
