Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard believes Luis Suárez is the best player on the world based on current form
Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is the best player in the world on current form.
The 26-year-old Uruguay international has scored an impressive 19 goals in 12 Premier League appearances this season.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is currently sidelined, whilst Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo only recently returned to first-team action.
And Gerrard reckons Suarez, who signed a new four-and-a-half year deal earlier in December, is currently the world’s best player.
“On current form he’s the best player in the world,” Gerrard told Sky Sports News.
“Lionel Messi’s out injured and Cristiano Ronaldo’s had a bit of an injury of late. Luis is the best player in the world right now.
“He’s certainly the best striker out there, he’s proving that with his minutes to goals ratio.”
On Monday night, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville picked the Liverpool forward as his player of the season so far.
“You have to say his performances in the last month have gone up a level again,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“If I was looking at him and his completeness as a player, the goal he set up for Raheem Sterling on Saturday was brilliant.
“He’s scored so many sensational goals.
“We see sometimes with a player where everything goes for him, every time he strikes the ball it goes in the back of the net and Suarez is having one of those seasons.”
